Last week, OES 2nd graders had an exciting guest! Coach Zuva from William Penn University, originally from Zimbabwe, shared about landforms and the unique plants and animals that thrive in Africa. 🌍
This hands-on learning experience tied perfectly into their lesson of how environmental characteristics influence the location and development of different places.
A big thank you to Coach Zuva for bringing the world a little closer to our classroom! 👏

This week, a group of 5th graders enjoyed spending time with Officer Nord during the Lunch Bunch! 👮♂️🍎

On Friday, our OES Student Council delivered over 400 items to our local animal shelter! The items were donated by OES students and families. The shelter staff was blown away and deeply appreciative of the support.
We couldn’t be prouder—OES truly has the most caring community! Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Together, we’re making a difference! 🐾💖

Our 1st Grade Kindness Club celebrated World Kindness Day on November 13 in the best way possible—by spreading kindness far and wide! They kicked off the day by handing out kindness stickers to every student who came to school that day. The club also gathered and donated an entire truckload of pantry items to the Ecumenical Cupboard—what an amazing act of generosity! 🌟
Throughout the day, teachers handed out kindness tags to students "caught being kind," and the Kindness Club teamed up with the 5th Grade Student Council to bring "Kindness Bingo" to 19 classrooms. It was a wonderful day filled with compassion, teamwork, and joy! ❤️

Two of our OES students recently showed extraordinary bravery and compassion! When an adult in their apartment needed medical assistance, one stayed by their side while the other ran to get help. The two students stayed with the adult until first responders arrived.
In recognition of their quick thinking and kindness, Officer Nord awarded the two students a new bike, a certificate, and a special lunch of their choosing.
Shoutout to 3rd Grade Teacher Mrs. Stephanie Roberts for nominating these young heroes! ✨

At OES, our teachers recently engaged in professional learning sessions focused on the new collaboration model we implemented this year. This allowed teachers from different grade levels to mingle, fostering alignment and sharing ideas to better support our students. 🤝
Our primary goal is to gather insights and develop effective strategies that meet the unique needs of every student. Thank you to our dedicated staff for their commitment to continuous improvement and embracing the power of learning! 🙌

This week, third graders joined Officer Nord for Lunch Bunch! Congratulations to these students whose names were drawn! 🎉

Join us for the 4th-6th Grade Orchestra concert on Thursday, November 14th, at 6:30pm in the George Daily Auditorium! Our students have been working hard and are excited to showcase their musical skills for you. 🎶
Students should arrive between 6:00 and 6:10pm and need to remember to bring their instruments and music folders.
A free-will donation will be collected to support the orchestra program. Enjoy a night of music and support our young musicians!

The OES library has two new art installations!
This summer, George Daily Auditorium hosted a theater camp where campers made giant, wearable Yo-Kai monster puppets. Yo-Kai are Japanese trickster monsters from folklore. Campers made these amazing and adorable creatures from ideas drawn on a page, then 3-D creations out of cardboard, to perform with their life-sized puppets.
The OES library is honored to house two of these amazing pieces of student art, Tsuru no Ongaeshi (Crane) and Ōgama (Frog).

We are proud to recognize Grayson and Regyn's incredible achievement as the fastest boy and girl to run the mile at OES! They were awarded certificates and celebrated at the last home football game for their impressive speed and dedication. Congratulations, Grayson and Regyn! 🥳

Check out this week’s Vocal Music Concert, starring our talented 5th grade singers! 🎤🎶
