π Last Friday was an apple-tastic adventure in Mrs. Hersom's kindergarten class! π
Students learned all about their five senses, and apples were the perfect subject. Our little chefs had a blast cutting up apples, mixing in cinnamon and sugar, and enjoying the wonderful smell that filled the classroom as their applesauce cooked in the crockpot!
Everyone enjoyed their treat at the end of the day, savoring their hard work and newfound knowledge! πππ

πΎπ Last week, we had a special visitor in Kindergarten! Karen Adams from Mahaska County Farm Bureau dropped by classrooms to give our little learners a taste of farm life.
π½π Karen brought in some items that Iowa farmers are harvesting this fall, including soybeans, corn, and pumpkins. Students learned that farmers use equipment called combines to harvest their crops, while pumpkins are carefully picked by hand.
Students also enjoyed some samples of various seeds! π±π» A big thank you to Karen Adams and Mahaska County Farm Bureau for this enriching experience!

This week, our incredible OES SVC (Student Volunteer Corp) members stepped up to the plate to give our hardworking teachers a little boost as they dive into Parent/Teacher Conferences week. ππ They not only delivered coffee and other refreshing drinks, but also exemplified leadership at its best! βοΈπ

Today, Mrs. Foxβs kindergarten class celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day with a special surprise! πβ¨ A friend donated some fun activities and snacks for students to enjoy while exploring their five senses.
Students used their sense of taste and smell to try applesauce and sour apple gummies! Then, they used their sense of touch to play "pin the worm on the apple." ππ
Finally, students used their senses of sight and hearing to listen to a story about Johnny Appleseed. What a fantastic day of learning and fun in kindergarten! π

Our OES Kindergarteners are on an exciting journey to learn about their five senses! On Friday, each class experimented using their senses in different ways. ππππ
π€
Miss. Katko's class embarked on a taste adventure with mints, Mrs. Fox's crew dived into the realm of touch, Mrs. Eveland's class got creative with shaving cream, and Mrs. Lemke's group dived into the world of apples to explore all five senses!
Stay tuned for more exciting adventures from our young learners! π
