The Little Hawkeye Conference (LHC) in the spring of 2025 approved two new members for the 2026–27 school year: Ames High School and Des Moines Christian. Both schools have publicly accepted invitations from the LHC. Urbandale considered an invitation earlier this year and voted to remain in the CIML. For the 2025–26 school year, LHC membership remains Dallas Center-Grimes, Indianola, Newton, Norwalk, Oskaloosa, Pella, and Pella Christian.
In August, Ottumwa Community School District petitioned to join the LHC. Any additional membership changes will require a vote by the membership and will be announced by the conference and the applying schools if and when they are approved.
Oskaloosa is actively engaged in these discussions and weighing options. Our priorities are what is best for students and families, including competitive balance, travel, scheduling, and opportunities in athletics, performing arts, and activities. We will share updates after any official action by the conference or the LHC Board.
