Today, Amie and Dave Breuklander visited OES kindergarteners in Ms. Lemke's class to teach them about World Down Syndrome Day. Amie and David read a story about how kids with Down syndrome are more like all of us than different. They also gave goodie bags to each kindergarten student, and the students loved receiving their mismatched socks. It was a great day celebrating a very special girl!

Some of Ms. Evans’ 4th grade students that are in orchestra wanted to learn and perform the Happy Birthday song. So when it was a student's birthday, they could play it for everyone to sing along! This was very special and fun for the students!

Miss Trainer's 2nd grade class enjoyed making butter to end Module 2 of Wit and Wisdom. Module 2 was all about life in the early American West, so making butter went hand in hand with the curriculum.Ā

🧵 ICYMI 🧵 Kindergarteners at OES enjoyed an extra outpouring of love earlier this month when each student received their own quilt from local seamstress Eileen Holub! Quilting has been a part of Eileen's life since she was a little girl watching her grandmother sew quilt blocks. Now grown and a grandmother herself, she brought the family tradition full-circle when she gave a quilt to every student and teacher in her granddaughter’s year at school. The 2024 theme for National School Counseling Week is "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused." The Oskaloosa Elementary School Counseling Program helps students daily in small groups, classroom lessons, and individual meetings. Together, we work with teachers, parents, administrators, nurses, and, most importantly, students. Our goal is to help students achieve academic, career, and emotional/social success throughout their time at Oskaloosa Elementary. šŸŽ“ Sam Doll works with Kindergarten and 1st grade students. šŸŽ“ Janet Johnson works with 2nd and 3rd grade students. šŸŽ“ Haley VanDerPol works with Kinderprep, 4th and 5th grade students. Together, our programs are "standard-based, student-focused.ā€
