This morning, OMS 8th Grade Student Council members worked hard to place evenly-spaced blue pinwheels all along the Oskaloosa square in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. These pinwheels serve as a powerful visual reminder of the happy, healthy childhoods every child deserves.
We are so proud of these young leaders for their dedication, their hard work, and their commitment to raising awareness for such a vital cause in our downtown area. Way to represent our school and support our community!

Kicking off the first pilot use of soon to be finished Mr. Scholes Dream Lab, Mrs. Pierson and our enriched math students stepped into the roles of "Structural Pastry Chefs" to design and build 3D cake models. There’s a lot more than just glue holding these masterpieces together: the use of scrum methodology turns abstract math into tangible results while directly cultivating skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and coachability.

Our sixth grade teachers turned off the lights to turn on the learning. As the intrigue came from transforming their classrooms into a Neon Glow Room, the real brightness and engagement came from our students' incredible collaboration and brains. Each student became a subject-matter expert on a specific Amendment, creating original memes to translate complex historical language into something everyone can understand. Students then led a high-tech "Gallery Walk," using their devices to teach their peers the significance of each right.
Who knew learning the Bill of Rights could involve this much creativity?
Laurenna worked hard all week to master the art of the startup. She didn't just make a drink; she managed the entire workflow—branding, production, and financial tracking.
Excellent work, Laurenna!
