Last week, creativity and drama took center stage in our 7th and 8th grade writing classrooms! 🎭
✨ 7th graders brought famous figures like Caitlin Clark, Tom Brady, Albert Einstein, and Benjamin Franklin to life through their inspiring “I Am…” speeches.
🕯️ To wrap up October, 8th graders dove into the eerie world of Edgar Allan Poe—exploring The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Black Cat—and showcased their understanding with stunning one-pager poster projects!

We have two more OMS WALLTOPPERS! Today, Dylan D. and Kiersten D. both successfully completed all four pathways on the OMS rock climbing wall, demonstrating true grit!

🎉 Congratulations to another talented and dedicated 8th-grade band student Keaton W. for achieving the prestigious Golden Stand Award! 🏆 To earn this honor and sign their names on the golden stand, students must flawlessly perform all twelve major scales one octave from memory in one sitting. What an accomplishment! 🎶

🎃 It was a busy and exciting week for our 6th graders at OMS! Students showed off their creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills through a variety of hands-on learning experiences:

🌎 In Social Studies, they presented their “Regions in a Box” projects, showcasing their knowledge of geography and regional characteristics through creative, three-dimensional displays.

🕯️ In Language Arts, they brought their “Two-Sentence Horror Stories” to life in a Wax Museum format—mixing writing, performance, and just the right amount of spooky fun!

📚 And in Reading, they participated in OMS Fear Factor, an interactive challenge designed to help them practice identifying plot, theme, and comparing and contrasting skills—all while having a blast learning together!
We’re so proud of our students for their effort, energy, and enthusiasm last week!

🕵️‍♀️✨ Top Secret Mission: 6th Grade Literacy Glow Day! ✨🕵️‍♂️

Our 6th-grade ELA student agents went undercover this week for a SPY-themed review mission! 🕶️ Each top-secret team rotated through 3 glowing HQs to crack codes, solve literacy mysteries, and review ELA standards. 💡📚

Mission accomplished — our spies decoded theme, plot, and vocabulary like pros! 🧠💥

📚 Our students are diving into Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory! Working in groups, they researched one of their top intelligences, explored how it connects to their own strengths, and are preparing a creative group project to share their learning. 💡👏 #OskyStrong #OMS #MultipleIntelligences
