Mr. Richardsonโs FCS students were "whisking" through their culinary lab this week! From kneading dough to simmering the perfect gravy, these students are proving theyโve got what it takes to master classic comfort food.
If you see an FCS student today, ask them for their secret to a fluffy biscuit! ๐จโ๐ณ๐ฉโ๐ณ

Our 8th graders hit the ground running after winter break! In Mr. Sterner and Mr. Knootโs American History classes, students didn't just read the Constitutionโthey "memed" it.
Each student became a subject-matter expert on a specific Amendment, creating original memes to translate complex historical language into something everyone can understand. Students then led a high-tech "Gallery Walk," using their devices to teach their peers the significance of each right.
Who knew learning the Bill of Rights could involve this much creativity?

Last week, Mrs. Nelsonโs classroom transformed into a headquarters for Laurenna A.โs lemonade delivery service.
Laurenna worked hard all week to master the art of the startup. She didn't just make a drink; she managed the entire workflowโbranding, production, and financial tracking.
Excellent work, Laurenna!

Our Team 8 students were hard at work right before the break with some hands-on learning in Math and Science.
๐ข In Math: Students put their collaboration skills to the test with a "New Year" challenge. They worked together to arrange complex pattern sequences to form the year 2026. It was a great way to practice logic and teamwork while looking ahead to the future!
๐ฆ In Science: We held the "Battle of the Beaks" lab! Students modeled how different physical traitsโlike beak shapesโaffect a bird's ability to gather specific types of food. It was a fun, hands-on way to see how specialized features help organisms thrive in their environments.
We are so proud of their hard work and are ready to tackle the second half of the year with full steam!

This morning, 28 OMS Student Council members rolled up their sleeves and partnered with the Oskaloosa Rotary Club to help unpack, unbox, and organize food for this yearโs Christmas Food Boxes.
Our students worked hard, had fun, and showed what it means to give back during the holiday season. We're proud of their leadership and grateful for the opportunity to support such an important community tradition.
Great job, Student Council!

7th graders in Mrs. Calahanโs and Mrs. Morganโs Language classes teamed up this week to teach each other all about the upcoming Macyโs Thanksgiving Day Parade. Students explored the history of the parade, how the iconic balloons are constructed, fan-favorite designs, and even learned about invitations to this yearโs event.
Next, students will design their own parade balloon using what they learned about the construction process and write a persuasive letter to their teachers explaining why their balloon should be included in the 100th parade next year.
Who doesn't love a parade?

๐ฎโโ๏ธ Drug Awareness Learning for 6th Grade ๐ฎโโ๏ธ
This week, our 6th graders participated in an important drug awareness lesson led by our Oskaloosa School Resource Officers, Officer Nord and Officer Stengel.
Students learned about making safe choices, understanding the impact of substances, and looking out for themselves and others. Officers also reminded students that if they ever see or hear something that feels unsafe or suspicious, they should report it right away to a trusted adult or school staff member so we can keep our school community safe.
Weโre grateful to our SRO team for building strong relationships with students and supporting a safe, informed school environment.
