We are incredibly honored and deeply moved to share that the family of former Oskaloosa student, Jordan Wayne, has generously donated a breathtaking collection of his Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, and Iowa-themed art prints to beautify our OMS office area.
Jordan (OHS Class of 2015) was a truly exceptional individual. Despite the many daily challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, he pursued his life goals with a fierce, quiet determination and a brilliant mind. After graduating from Osky with honors, his academic excellence earned him a full scholarship to Grand View University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design in 2019. From interning at a top architecture firm to launching his own small business, Jordan Wayne Designs, his passion for creativity knew no bounds. He became a beloved featured artist for the Oskaloosa Art Center and Studios, capturing the beauty of the community he loved so much.
Those who knew Jordan remember him as a private, smart, and deeply thoughtful person. He carried himself with a beautiful, humble pride, quietly sharing his extraordinary artistic gifts with the community while maintaining a clever sense of humor and a contagious, optimistic outlook on life. He was, and remains, a true inspiration.
Now, his stunning artwork graces our walls, serving as a daily reminder to our students, staff, and visitors of what it means to persevere with grace and passion.
We extend our deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to Jordan’s parents, John and Michelle Wayne, and his sister Natalie, for gifting us these incredible pieces in his memory and honor. We are so incredibly proud to hold a piece of Jordan's lasting legacy right here at OMS.
You can read Jordan’s full artist bio in our Admin office hallway near his first print, or learn more about his incredible journey and achievements on the FACE of Mahaska County Art website.

Huge congratulations to our 7th and 8th Grade Choir students on an incredible performance last Friday! From the first note to the final bow, these talented singers showed so much growth and heart.
This performance felt extra special as it’s our first year with year-long choir access for all students. Having that consistent time together in the classroom has truly taken their harmony and confidence to the next level!
A massive thank you to Mrs. Hemann for her leadership and dedication. Her passion for music and for these students shines through in every piece. We also want to extend a very special thank you to Mrs. Beth Brostrom for her beautiful piano accompaniment. Your talent adds so much to our sound, and we are so grateful for your support! 🎹✨

To avoid any mid-test battery mid-testing crises, please help your student remember two things:
Charge it up: Plug in those Chromebooks every night so they arrive at 100%.
Pack the cord: Send the charging cable to school in their backpack every single day of testing, just in case!
Let’s power through this week together.

This morning, OMS 8th Grade Student Council members worked hard to place evenly-spaced blue pinwheels all along the Oskaloosa square in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. These pinwheels serve as a powerful visual reminder of the happy, healthy childhoods every child deserves.
We are so proud of these young leaders for their dedication, their hard work, and their commitment to raising awareness for such a vital cause in our downtown area. Way to represent our school and support our community!
