Staff at OMS were treated to a wonderful charcuterie board today, which was put together by OMS 6th Grade Teacher Jennifer Arnold. The charcuterie board was made possible through a generous donation by Dr. Molly Walker and Dr. Daniel Foster from Oskaloosa Vision Center. We are grateful to Dr. Walker, Dr. Foster, and Mrs. Arnold for making this wonderful event happen!

🔴 Get ready to spread holiday cheer, OMS! 🟢 Here's the festive lineup for next week. Let's make the last week before winter break extra merry and bright!

🎁 Join us in the Spirit of Giving at OMS this Holiday Season! 🌟
OMS is embracing the holiday spirit with the Spirit of Giving, and we have exciting opportunities for our students! While we may not meet every need, we're dedicated to doing all we can during this special time of year. One way we involve the whole school is by giving students a chance to win gift bags through acts of kindness and community service.
Check out the photo below or this video to see how students can participate: https://youtu.be/a1M1CHOzFYQ
Our community's support never ceases to amaze us, and we feel truly blessed to witness the joy we can bring to our students. Thank you for your continued support and for entrusting us with your student! 🙏💙

Oskaloosa Public Schools received grief kits from Brooklyn Hayes, funded by a grant from Mahaska CPPC (Community Partnerships for Protecting Children) in collaboration with Mahaska KIND. 👏
These kits, designed to help children and teens process various types of grief, contain books covering topics such as pregnancy and infant loss, the loss of a loved one, suicide, SIDS, NICU experiences, and guidance on discussing death with curious children. 🫶
Each grief kit includes tools, activities, coloring pages, fidget items, handouts for parents, information about support groups, art supplies, and journal prompts. The kits also provide school staff with resources to better assist students dealing with grief.
Thank YOU, Brooklyn Hayes, for your donation! 💗

🏀✨ Yesterday was a slam dunk as OMS students had the opportunity to have lunch with the OHS girls basketball team! 🌟 It was an inspiring moment for our middle school students to connect with the high school students and they enjoyed it.

The OMS German class recently went on a delicious adventure! 🍝🇩🇪 Students made Sphaghettieis, a spaghetti ice cream and German speciality made of frozen whipped cream, ice cream, strawberry sauce, and white chocolate shavings. Spaghettieis pros in the making – who knew learning could be this tasty?

This weekend, on November 4th, Mr. Fash and Mr. Jenkinson took 14 OMS students to Mayem Comics in Clive to participate in a My Hero Academia tournament! The students were gifted with many free card packs for being in the tournament, and other people from different areas gave the students their overflow of cards.
These OMS students had a ton of fun! We also want to thank an anonymous donor who paid the entry fee to the tournament. It is greatly appreciated!

🥞 Every Friday in November, the ACSI Team at OMS is providing Flannels and Flapjacks for staff. Staff get to wear their favorite flannel and spend time with other staff members over a hearty flapjack breakfast! This is held from 7:00am to 7:45 a.m. before school in Mr. Richardson's FCS kitchen.
ACSI is our Admin, Counselors, Success Coaches and Instructional Coaches. The team consists of Mr. Scholes, Mr. Gingerich, Mrs. Brummell, Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Maddy, Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Kaisand, and Mrs. Stek.
