On Friday, the OMS Battle of the Books team placed 4th in the Central Rivers BotB contest! The team consisted of Emma, Ezra, Parker, and Ruby.
The contest was the “Grand Battle” of the top 16 teams in the state, which was narrowed down from 72 teams via a Google Form quiz a few weeks ago. Also, the team participated in a Zoom presentation with author Huda Fahmy and received a signed copy of her graphic novel, which was one of the books used for the contest.
🎉 Help us congratulate these students on this accomplishment! And give a shout-out to Ruby, who read all 14 of the books on the list! 📚
Thank you to Osky staff and admin for supporting these students in this activity!

Last Thursday, OMS hosted a Career Fair event for its students in order to generate interest and excitement around various career possibilities. Over 35 different organizations and agencies were present at the Career Fair, providing our students with a multitude of careers to explore and learn more about. A special thank you to OMS counselor Laura Brummel for all of her leadership and organization in planning this event for our students. Also, a special thank you to all of our local businesses and organizations for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend time with our students and invest in their futures.
Before Career Day, OMS kicked off the day with a motivating guest speaker, Desi Payne, on resiliency at the George Daily Auditorium. The assembly was interactive and engaging for the students. Students also wrote thank you emails to our generous professionals who volunteered their time!
